As for the bronze statue of snell built near the outworks of a castle entrance of Ruins of Sakura Castle Park, Sakura Lions Club was donated to erection, city in commemoration of the Japan and the United States Osamu hao trade agreement conclusion 150th anniversary. Similarly it is erected near the Prince old Sakura feudal lord Masayoshi Hotta image built in 2006 by Sakura Lions Club.

In 1856 (Ansei 3), Townsend Harris arrives in Shimoda with autograph letter of the President of the United States. Purpose of visit to Japan linked trade agreement to Japan as the American first consul general to Japan ahead of other countries, and it was to realize the foundation of a country.
